BMI Formula
Expression: BMI = weight (kg) / height (m)²
Body Mass Index relates weight to height squared. It is a population-level screening tool — athletes with high muscle mass may show elevated BMI despite low body fat.
Example: 70 kg person, 175 cm tall
Weight = 70 kg, Height = 1.75 m
BMI = 70 / (1.75)² = 70 / 3.0625
Result: BMI = 22.9 (Normal range)
